Why Did the Zip Line Break?

When you were a kid, did you ever try to make your own zip line between two trees? The likelihood of succeeding in this endeavor at that age was probably slim. But do you know why it didn't work? Flyhouse went into the shop to test the math behind this and we found out why.

Navy Pier Polk Bros Park Stage

A new outdoor performance space at Polk Bros. Park  - known as the city's unofficial front yard - just outside of Chicago's Navy Pier required a stage to withstand the changing midwest weather to provide what Chicago is known for - entertainment. Flyhouse built a grid structure 50 feet wide by 36 feet deep with 28 feet tall towers, allowing the stage grid to have a trim height of 22 feet above the performance stage. The structure also needed to handle 90-mph wind gusts at three-second bursts.

Have you ever thought about the difference between stop sleeves and compression sleeves? If you're in the rigging industry, they are standard items used on the job. What if you used wire rope that was powder coated? Would that make a difference? Flyhouse tested some scenarios to give you a better sense of what they are capable of doing.
