Known for its Broadway caliber stagings, Oakbrook Terrace’s Drury Lane Theater recently turned to Chicago Flyhouse for a series of rigging upgrades designed to increase and enhance its production capabilities.

In addition to pipe grid renovations, and the design and installation of a motorized stage lift, Flyhouse also provided the theater with a series of flexible-use roll tubes, suitable for a multitude of backdrops, curtaining, and fabric scenic elements.

Propelled by high-speed motors, the custom roll tubes vary in length from 10 feet to 48 feet, and are contained in aluminum frames that can be easily broken into pieces for transportation.

Built to integrate with Flyhouse’s custom I-Rig system, which allows for intuitive operation with presets, time-based movement, speed-based movement, and adjustable limits, the roll tubes can be controlled via touch-screen and/or panel-mounted buttons, and in addition, each unit has “one-touch” digital limits enabling quick setup and adjustment.
