Shop Foreman

Chicago Flyhouse is looking for an experienced and motivated person to manage jobs as a shop foreman. This shop foreman must be able to gather information about a job from project managers and manage the completion of those jobs from the shop and into the field. This person must be able to manage multiple employees working underneath them at one time and must be capable of keeping the projects on time and within the hours estimated. These jobs will vary in scale and multiple jobs must be balanced at one time. 

Duties
• Manage work in progress and maintain shop production schedule
• Ability to schedule staff appropriately to meet deadlines for any and all fabrication 
• Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, meeting customer delivery expectation
• Ensure that all company and industry regulated quality standards are maintained on all fabricated equipment
• Manage all shop staff including over hires
• Plan and direct layout of equipment, workflow, and assembly methods, in conjunction with Shop staff
• Maintain the cleanliness and workflow of the shop, storage, and equipment
• Ensure welding quality meets company standards on all jobs

Requirements
• Strong leadership, supervisory skills, organizational, problem solving, and management skills
• Ability to meet challenging deadlines in an efficient and effective manner
• Some basic computer knowledge – MS Outlook email and MS Excel
• Ability to read Blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings
• Basic electrical knowledge
• Strong welding knowledge and application, Mig | Tig
• Must have experience with Cold Saws, Ironworkers, Bridgeports, Lathes, etc
• Ability to recommend proper procedures for specific jobs and provide guidance to the shop staff
• Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, comfortable driving trucks

Fabricator

Flyhouse is is seeking skilled metals fabricators for temporary full-time work. Ideal candidates will have at least three years’ experience as a metal fabricator and will be a competent in MIG welding though entry-level candidates will be considered.  Successful candidates will have high personal standards regarding the quality of their work and will be able to find the most efficient and effective path to completion with limited supervision.

Electrical Engineer

Flyhouse is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and draft complex electrical enclosures for entertainment automation. Candidates should have experience working with industrial or entertainment automation and be able to demonstrate examples of effective solutions to challenging design parameters. Applicants should be self-driven and capable of planning to meet project benchmarks. Proficiency in AutoCad and EPLAN is desirable. This position is a 12-month contract.

Automation Software Developer

Chicago Flyhouse is looking for an experienced Automation Software Developer for full-time employment. Successful candidates will be self-starters who can move a project forward and overcome challenges with minimal supervision. Domestic travel and work on jobsites around the country is required for this position.

Responsibilities
• Develop, test, and commission industrial automation solutions for theatrical systems including but not limited to curtain control and performer flying
• Document software development, bug fixes, and user operation
• Provide remote and onsite support for customer support requests and maintenance calls
• Travel to customer sites for software commissioning and customer training
• Assist in the fabrication of automation solutions, including electrical wiring
• Look for opportunities to continuously improve automation solutions and offerings

Requirements
HMI programming experience
• Experience commissioning and troubleshooting variable frequency drives
• Experience with Arduino and Raspberry Pi
• Experience programming Beckhoff PLCs and TwinCAT logic
• Bachelors degree in an engineering field
• 2+ years working within industrial automation

Preferred
• Experience participating in on-site automation system commissioning
• Experience with theater technology
• Experience fabricating electromechanical systems
• Experience interpreting mechanical and electrical diagrams
• Knowledge of Linux, MySQL, and C#
• Experience with AutoCAD and Eagle
• Experience designing and fabricating PCBs

Other details
• Willingness to travel (50%). Potential travel for multiple weeks at a time.
• Willingness to travel on short notice and to potentially work nights and weekends.
• Valid passport
• Valid driver’s license

Required Experience
• Experience with various automated equipment in the entertainment industry
• Experience in troubleshooting electronics
Experience in installation and commissioning of systems
Experience in Electrical wiring of enclosures
Demonstrated record of efficiency and effectiveness in complex situations
