The Flyhouse team was in Tampa in recent weeks, visiting a longtime client and friend.
Our partnership with Busch Gardens' Moroccan Palace theater began ahead of their new “Iceploration” production, which incorporated performer flying and ice flooring. While the show itself has evolved over the past 15 years, these productions have become a staple for the venue. The latest is called “Rhythm of Nature: A Magical Journey on Ice.”
The venue has successfuly used Flyhouse x300 hoists and an iRig control system since the first show debuted in 2011, but it was time for an update. Flyhouse was invited to Busch Gardens this “April dark” (the venue's planned closing for maintenance) to install a new EASE® system. This marks the first time EASE® has been used for performer flying in a permanent installation.
Our crew created custom wiring harnesses allowing the new EASE® console to communicate with the three existing Flyhouse hoists onsite. We installed the appropriate cabling, and conducted robust testing of the new system. Finally, we trained venue staff on how to safely operate the EASE® system, shadowing them backstage for run-throughs. That’s how we fly!
