A recent project has kept our crew close to home: Chicago's historic Athenaeum Center, located near the intersection of Southport and Lincoln Avenues in the Lakeview neighborhood. The venue, which opened in 1911, is Chicago's oldest operating theater outside of the downtown Loop area.
As part of recent updates, our crew provided three new 50’ wide truss spans, each rigged from two one-ton D8+ chain hoists. Two of these full systems already in use and the third one ready to go at any time. The installation included custom Flyhouse-fabricated chain hoist stands mounted to the facilities grid.
In addition, Flyhouse designed a specialty chain hoist control system, integrated encoder, and load cells monitoring to allow for advanced control via an easy to use touchscreen. The entire system was engineered for permanent installation, and our Flyhouse control has the capability to add axes as-needed.
Flyhouse is thrilled to help modernize this historic venue. And we look forward to the next phase of this project in the coming months.
