Barclays Center Services Provided:
- Acoustic Baffles
- Temporary Access Solutions
After years of planning, the 18,000-seat multipurpose Barclays Center in the New York borough of Brooklyn opened in 2012. Barclays is home to the Brooklyn Nets (NBA), New York Islanders (NHL), and many concerts and events throughout the year.
To provide the best acoustical accommodations to the thousands in attendance at each event, Flyhouse installed acoustical boxes to assist in low-end (bass frequency) sound absorption throughout the ceiling of the arena.
While most installations use scaffolding to complete the work, it was not an option for this project. At this time, the Barclays Center was fully operational and had events scheduled during the time Flyhouse was contracted to be on site for installation.
To increase the most efficient use of time, Flyhouse developed a temporary access solution that can be setup and removed. Instead of the standard scaffolding, the tracking system of the platform maneuvers lifts throughout the arena and makes it possible to perform work in areas that took weeks of open dates for the venues and allowing for the system to be easily removed after each shift.
Flyhouse was able to complete the installation and allow for the Barclays Center to not miss a single event.
