Dropping in to MSI
Chicago’s Griffin Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) debuted a new exhibit this weekend, 007 Science: Inventing the World of James Bond. To help kick off the exhibit, Flyhouse partnered with C5, a Chicago-based performer flying company.
The operation? Support a visual flying effect for MSI’s 44th Annual Columbian Ball, which included a special highlight on the new exhibit. During the evening's activities, a gentleman dressed in a tuxedo rappelled 65 feet from the ceiling of the building to the ground of the main exhibit hall, on a very special mission.
We collaborated with C5, MSI, and an outside engineering firm to create a unique cantilever structure that allowed this effect to take place. The structure anchors into a corner of the ceiling's HVAC access without any damage to existing plaster above, completely supporting the needs of the effect.
A successful mission, indeed.
007 Science: Inventing the World of James Bond will be open until October 27.
