The new year is underway and the Flyhouse team is already busy on a wide range of projects, with old friends and new. Here’s a sneak peek at some of our plans for 2025!
Harvard University American Repertory Theatre
We were thrilled to be awarded the theatrical rigging contract for Harvard University ART new performance venue: : The David E. and Stacey L. Goel Center for Creativity & Performance. This space—designed with a thoughtful focus on the environment, inside and out—will feature two new theaters, two new studios, and two new rehearsal rooms.
Project highlights include:
- 50+ single purchase linesets
- 2 custom Flyhouse hoists to easily deploy a modular proscenium portal panel system
- A front of house adjustable seating platform system
- Extensive traveling beam systems for each of the venue’s primary performance spaces
This multimillion dollar project will be ready for rigging installation at the end of 2025, ahead of their planned opening in September 2026.
Public Science Common
Later this year, we will be installing a first-of-its-kind motorized LED wall tracking system at a new “convening space” in the Museum of Science, Boston. The Flyhouse custom oval track and motorized trolley system will include automated track switchers and a motorized bridges, making numerous configurations possible. It includes 6 LED panel frames, each motorized to lift and lower the panels to different trim heights. This system will be controlled and operated via a custom Flyhouse pendant controller to make positioning of these LED walls a breeze.
We are designing this system to look as good as it functions, discreetly blending with the venue’s aesthetics. The new Public Science Common, a 10,000 square foot multi-purpose hub along the Charles River, is set to open in 2026.
Community High School District 218
Here in Chicago, Flyhouse was awarded two contracts for high school theater renovation projects currently underway—for Shepard High School and Eisenhower High School.
Each school is undergoing an extensive refresh of their auditorium spaces. In order to stay within the overall project budgets, our crews will be repurposing and relocating existing theatrical equipment while adding new motorization where possible to improve student users’ experiences. Both schools will also receive upgrades to their main curtain systems and receive a new pit filler system.
While these high schools and others like it may not be known worldwide, they are a valued and beloved part of our roster.
